Astreaux World...

Astreaux the DJ launched the station in December 1999 with the purpose of supplying himself with his favorite new age music, ambient music, and space music while he traveled. Instead of carrying CD’s with him he thought it might be easier to just get online and stream the music over the internet. It was easier, and at the time it was also free. He set up a station that he could listen to even with a dial up connection, and he left his CD’s safely at home (where they were ultimately stolen in a burglary).Unexpectedly, he started receiving requests from listeners to his station. He had made the station presentable but really didn’t expect to get many, or any listeners. Often a request came for an artist unknown to Astreaux. This was a treat as it exposed him to new artists and new music. So, in between trade excursions, Astreaux started devoting time to the station and the interaction with listeners and artists. For the first year and a half the station had no web site to call its own, just a "Group" on Yahoo to handle communications. Finally he busted loose and built AstreauxWorld.com.Astreaux World needs your support and so do the artists whose music we play. The best way to do this is to buy their music! If you're an iTunes listener, look for our artists there. Or try CDBaby.Com for lots of great Astreaux music - you can listen online or purchase CD'sWho Else?Just on this planet we host over MANY visitors every day, and those visitors come from all over the planet. We've received donations and contributions from many people, and we're thankful to everyone, including all of the artists who create this incredible music, and the listeners with whom we quietly share a kindred spirit. There are others who work on Astreaux World. Reverend Dr. Rick has assumed the responsibility of the station and the websites after the untimely passing of Astreaux on December 27, 2008. As a long time listener and frequent visitor on Astreaux World, he agreed to keep things going as a tribute to what Astreaux had created, so that the thousands on this planet and the uncounted masses on all of the other planets in the galaxy server by Astreaux World, could continue to enjoy the wonderful music and to hear Astreaux’s announcements and interjected humor. You can hear some of Rev. Dr. Rick's own music on the station as well!Astreaux is originally from Astreauxlangatta, a sea-side city on the fourth planet of a 12 planet solar system on the far side of the Milky Way. It has population of 4 million humanoids, and 2.5 million Krutonians...But seriously, Astreaux World is where you are, where you listen to the show. It's all over the world. We're constantly amazed to see that our listeners enjoy the show from such diverse locations, some exotic, some rather plain. But that's the whole idea... Astreaux World can compliment natural beauty, or take you away from the everyday doldrums that try to infest our lives. Even in the most mundane places, performing the most mundane jobs, Astreaux World serves to remind us that there is so much more to life, and to the world around us, that we can tolerate the commonplace in pursuit of a higher purpose, a higher consciousness, a higher state of being.WhatYou know that feeling when you lean back in your chair and you’re just about to fall backwards but at the very last instant you catch yourself? That’s Astreaux World. No matter where you go, there’s Astreaux World. You know sometimes when you’re in a deep sleep and someone calls you and says it’s nine o’clock, and you say, "AM or PM"? That’s Astreaux World. It's a free internet radio station broadcast 24/7/365 ambient music, space music, new age music, electronic music and sprinklings of comedy, science-fiction, and metaphysics.Look around, buy music from our artists and help to support them and keep them motivated to create, meet others, kick the tires, listen to the music, submit your music to be played!WhenWhen, you ask? ALWAYS! Astreaux World is 24 x 7 and 365.25 days a year (Earth year or any other planetary time measurement). The station is always on, whether manned or on autopilot (when we fold space to other locations frequently). We follow the principle... "If you stream it, they will come." Currently, over 114 hours of unique music in the play list from well known and new artists from around the world. Even Enya mentions Astreaux World on her web site!CurrentlyStay up to date with events in and around Astreaux World by following our Twitter.com site @AstreauxWorld. It's free, fun and safe. Hear what is playing next, shout outs to our followers and general information. We support many of the New Age Music Circle artist members by featuring their music on the station as well! Please listen in to hear them! Thanks, astreaux

Space Elevator Trailer

What this track is, a twice run thru on each track on the album. For some reason, it is popular on myspace. We noted that places like cd baby, played the first 30 seconds or so of each track. Well, there is plenty of things you would miss that you might like. So we took a few more minutes past and into the heart of each track. Now you can hear the first, some middle and some near end. Perhaps a better over all of the album. or not ... we never know what we do that works or not. I do not play darts well either.dale

If any of you tried to tune your computers to the "Between Phases" Gift Shop opening in the Artshighway back in July without success, we unfortunately have to confess we had a technical glitch – our allowable virtual visitor list was defaulted to five (only five people were allowed in at one time). This was bad news for those of us trying to enter the Artshighway that day; we apologize for this but would like to announce some good news that has come as a result of this. Active Worlds has allowed us to increase our Artshighway visitor limit for the duration of our one year lease ending in the spring of 2010. That means we can arrange functions at anytime. So we invite you and any friends anywhere on the globe to: "come on in" anytime.Just let us know when you might pop by and we'll certainly arrange a personal tour of the Artshiway and some of the great Galleries and studios in there including yours truly's Happy Onion Music Studio and a new Night Club being built in my virtual lower basement suite. Please contact either Artist3d or Marcia at:marcia@marciameyermusic.com--or--artist3d@isleofwebs.comHope to see you soon!MarciaPS First timers: To get into the Virtual ArtsHighway is easy.Step One: Download the free software at www.activeworlds.comStep Two: Install it, run it and click on *Artshiway* in the Worlds list (see TAB on the left). Once you get there go up to your Teleport Menu and select *Make This My Home* --- that way whenever you run the software in the future you will arrive immediately in the Artshighway.Done!Navigating is easy... just use your arrow keys to move forward and back or side to side (hold Shift to pass through solid objects if you get stuck).

Big world, small world

I am amazed at how easy it has become to share music. Not long ago I would have had to look for a magazine, get an address in it, make a tape of my music and mailed it by boat to have someone in the States hear my music made in Southern Africa. Now I can google for "new age music", find this site and join a circle of friends within a few hours :-)

undecided

Well, still undecided to hang out here or what.I do wish to THANK everyone for the wonderful comments and response here. It makes me want to stay in spite of being told, you are being too loud ... ;-)as I pointed out, if I do not call attention to our band, our music and what we do, who will?I was just working on a modifing a patch done by Klaus Schulze, his birthday was last week btw, for a layer on a track I am working on. This patch uses a MOOG synth emulation called MMV by Arturia. I run it thru a set of real analog filters, none other than MOOGs. Brings the emulation to life so to speak. I am sure many here are familar with some of Klaus Schulze's works, maybe even some Tangerine Dream? maybe not .. it all depends on what type of EM you are into. Just trying to let those interested know, something will be posted here in that flavor soon. A reference for comparision perhaps?dale
